About Me

My name is Femy. I work full time as a government employee. I live in Belleville, Ontario with my husband Rick and 2 kids Chelson and Jared and of course our 2 cats cuddles and skip. I love to create. I love to quilt, machine embroidery, cross stitch and card making, beading. I also like to write poems, short and longs ones :). Sometime in 2008, I was introduced to rubber stamps. I’ve been making cards for a while but have never used stamps before. I was also introduced to markers called Copics and started using them May 2009. Now I am hooked. So here in this place I call my own, I will share with you what I create and hope I inspire you to do a little creating yourself.

Simple album for Baby

Here is my part 2 post.  I should titled this posts for baby  ;-) ..  I am a card maker and have been rally fascinated with the mini albums the everyone has been making.  I am always watching videos live and recorded on how to make them.  This is my 4th album.  I can’t believe that I already made 4 minis.   .. My minis aren’t that hard.  They are not heavy on embellishments.  I have to start with something easy.  I remember when I was making my parents anniversary album last year,  I was a bit overwhelmed, but I was able to finish it.  I never got the chance to post that one either  .. I might just post is after this one.  Since I am on a catching up posts, I will include that one. I only remember some of the materials I used, I won’t be able to mention all of them since some doesn’t have a name on them.. The papers were from my stash. The were a bonus freebie when I bough a magazine once.  There are a lot of stamps used like CTMH, Stampavie, Inkadinkadoo, Stampendous.  Some journaling stamps I used I bought from a yard sale at my LSS and don’t know the maker but I love it.  Most of the sentiments are from the  cloud 9 Baby stamp set. I also used some MS and EK success punches/chompers for corners and borders.

Anyway, here is my baby album, I will mention the materials with the pics if I remember them. First the album when closed and the first page. The ribbon I bought at value village for a very cheap price it was in a very large roll in white.  I have quite a few meters of these   I glimmer misted it with Lemon Zest, Yellow daisy & a touch of Copper coffee & Sherbert.  The ribbon has a bit of elasticity to it that I used it as the closure for the album.  The pic on the right will be the view as soon as the album if flipped opened.  The cute as a button is from Technique Tuesday, some papers are from stampin up.

I had fun making this.  I will be making more, this time for my own babies.  I have a lot of pics when they were small.  Right now I am learning PSE 10.  I am totally enjoying the learning curve.  Sometimes, I get frustrated, but I keep plugging away and I will eventually get the look that I want. Patience, yup I have lots of it, but it seems I am learning to have more, and a bit more of it. ;-) .  This is what I always say to the ladies that takes my classes,  lots of patience will get us where we want to be.  Anyways,  Thank you again for dropping by.  I would like to hear some of your comments.  It has been quiet lately with comments although I see a lot still visits :-D .. Let me know what you think.  Comments always make me happy.  I hope you visit again and would appreciate if you leave small comment   ;-)

Quilt for Baby

A friend is expecting her 3rd child.  I made an album and a quilt for her and her baby.  I am starting to venture into the  mini albums and I am happy how this one turned out.  Baby quilts are my specialty so that one was finished quickly.  I like making smaller quilts as they satisfy me quickly since I can finish them quite quickly.. This time I did the quilt as you go method.  I used  the disappearing nine patch block.  This one was pretty easy, the front and back  looks the same. I had enough fabric and I was glad as I wanted it that way.   I totally enjoyed finishing the binding by hand   A lot of you  might cringe at the binding by hand but that to me is relaxing.  Now I am making a large size quilt in this manner, for my bed.. There is no pressure as to when it has to be finished but I am plugging away when I have the time    Time, I need more of this, considering I have a Monday to Friday job, plus  teach at my LSS, and now my quilt.  Once this quilt is done, I will for sure be happy. I have made a few quilts  all them to give away. 8O  Shocking  yes, now I want this quilt to stay with me, on my bed …  Okay here are the pics, they are all bright colors no specific theme except anything that would be okay for baby either a boy or a girl.

A Valentine Surprise

Happy Valentines everyone.  The above card is the one I made for my one and only. ;-)    The stamp is Whiff of Joy  stamped on Simply smooth Bazzill white cardstock.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Copics was used to color the cutie pie stamp. The love word is a sticker I got from my stash.  I used my own handwriting for the sentiment that says: ” dear to me, near to me all the way thru, special, wonderful, original you.” I used one of stampin up’s old designer paper.  I also wrote a poem  and paperclipped it to the card that says:

You and Me
 Femy Gray

Here we are you and me,
We are happy as can be,
Like two peas in a pod
I’m quite sure this isn’t a facade.

I can’t help but wonder why?
I always seem to sigh,
Questioning why  you made me your wife?
You eventually changed my life.

Of course we have our differences,
And our silly  arguments,
Once in a while, this can’t be helped
It strengthens our bond, yes it does help.

I am in love with you and me.
I am in love with our small family tree.
I am glad to be a part of thee.
I’d be lost if there was no you and me.

So lets continue our journey,
You guide and I’ll guide you.
Above all  let us always have a wonderful ride.
Together, forever by each other’s side.

I stared and finished this poem today and was glad so I could include it with my card.  I am happy with the result.  Just a short post for Valentines Day. Here are more views of the card open and when it is closed.

Catching Up 1

I know I have been a bad blogger. I just have been really busy with work and personal stuff. Of course that doesn’t mean I haven’t been in my studio creating. Problem is most of the time I forget to take a picture of the finished product, then I don’t have any thing to show or post.  I do have some pictures of finished cards and quilting from xmas and some others cards I have forgotten to show. So this is a start of catching up. Hence, the title since there will be 2,3,4 and so on.

I made about 55 of this card. I watere color and Copics, so sorry I do not have or remember the colors I used. I used white gel pen for the snow. This is a stampin up  image.  Love it.  It was easier for me to color a bunch of the same images and make them into a card. Way easier and quicker. Of course there was a lot of love put into making these cards. That is never going to change. The coloring process is the one step that takes the longest. Once coloring is finished then everything else is a breeze. Here is a picture for you.  I enjoyed every minute of it.  I started early so that I was actually ready to mail it by Dec 1, 2011.  Other material used are Spellbinders labels, Stampin up and Bazzill cardstock.  CTMH papers.

I also made a table runner for my BFF as her xmas gift.  Here is a picture:

Scrappy Bowl Challenge#2:Red, White & Blue

Isn’t this unbelievable, 2 posts in one day     Here is my 2nd entry for the super bowl challenge-red, white and blue.

I used plain blue cardstock and a background stamp called Garden delight from Local King Ruber stamps.  The main image is a Penny Black stamp called Eat cake and be merry set.  Of course colored with Copics. Tim Holtz ditress ink were used too. I used CTMH stamps as well. I distressed the red cardstock, just slightly peeking out from the main image.  I saw a card in this design and loved it.  Of course there was no tempalte for it so I made my own template, lucky me it worked    I know my pictures are not that good.  I have to practice taking good pictures. One thing is that I was in a hurry to post before deadline time. I am glad to able to make it.

I teach  classes at our local scrap store here( Sweet Sentiments) on how to use Copics. Next class is Feb 19th.  This is the card that will be on display.  I finishsed this one last Saturday but couldn’t get a good photo.  I really need to learn how to take good photos. Pointers anyone? Here is another picture:
